Pealer, Lynda
1940 - 2018
Lynda Ryan Pealer, of Dublin OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 24, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was the only child born to John C. and Mary S. Ryan of Indianapolis, IN. Lynda was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, and she will be sadly missed. She loved to laugh and would do anything for her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, George; six children: Michelle (Tom) Lakocy of Troy, MI; Julie (Ed) Cepulis of Boulder, CO; Thomas (Laura) Cole of Somerville, MA; Jennifer (Robert) Sizemore of Dublin, OH; Melynda Pealer of Dublin, OH; and Nathan (Shaina) Pealer of Astoria, NY. She adored her twelve grandchildren: Alex, Kim, and Andrew Lakocy; Mikas, Aidan, and Ariana Cepulis; Ethan and Avery Cole; Austin and Ian Sizemore; and Ruby and Iris Pealer. She was preceded in death by son Ryan Pealer. Lynda graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, then attended Purdue University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and worked as a research assistant at the Indiana University Med Center. She made a career change which led her to attend The Ohio State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, specializing in Ornamental Horticulture. It was there she met her husband George, and together in 1978 they founded Millcreek Gardens, an ornamental plant nursery specializing in Herbs and Perennials, near Ostrander, OH. Lynda was quiet, humble, and disciplined; she was an outstanding cook and lived an active and healthy lifestyle. She loved tending to her many orchids. She loved the many epic family card games that lasted into the wee hours. She loved many outdoor activities, including gardening, tandem bicycling with her husband, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, playing tennis, and studying wildlife; she was very passionate about birds. She loved travelling, especially in California and the Southwestern US. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and caregivers at Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic for their compassionate care for Lynda. Arrangements are being handled by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, Worthington, OH. In lieu of a funeral service there will be a Celebration of Life held on a future date. Contributions may be made in memory of Lynda Pealer to The Chadwick Arboretum, and mailed to: The Ohio State University, c/o OSU Gift Processing, 1480 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43221. My heartfelt sympathies to you, George and the Pealer family upon learning of the loss of your beautiful and vibrant wife and mother. I remember Lynda as such an energetic, smiling, generous person. An expert horticulturist, lover of herbs, hard working professional who I admired greatly. Working with you and Lynda was the greatest impetus to persuing a career in horticulture. Thank you. With caring thoughts and loving memories, Michele Thomas

I was lucky enough to work at Millcreek Gardens for George. Lynda was not there every day, but when she was at the nursery, she was outgoing, funny, engaging, and simply wonderful. My deepest condolences to George, the Pealer family, the team at Millcreek and all those who will miss her smile, her knowledge and her energy.
