Margaret McCully Obituary
McCully, Margaret
Margaret Steele McCully, May 15, 1919 - November 6, 2017. Born in Ft. Recovery, Ohio (Mercer County), she was the third child of Rev. Claude M. Steele and Pearl Beulah Taylor Steele. Growing up in a Methodist family, Margaret and her parents were often transferred to new congregations. This could have been the spark that interested her in world travel as she matured. Her formative years were all spent in Ohio. After high school she went to Miami of Ohio and received her degree in 1941. During WWII she joined the American Red Cross and served in many installations in Europe and the Far East. In the 1950s she married the love of her life, Paul McCully, and they moved to Atlanta. It was a good marriage and they later moved to Oklahoma where they had a huge poultry ranch. They retired to Brownsville, Texas, where Paul passed away in 1994. Margaret moved to Gahanna, Ohio, to be near her two nieces and the two siblings who were still in Ohio. She continued to travel far and wide. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at the Stoneybrook United Methodist Church in Gahanna on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. She was 98 years old. She is survived by her nieces, Joan Tsibouris, Diana Synadinos, and Judi Naderhof; and a host of great nieces and nephews in Ohio, California, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Washington.
