Maria Myers Obituary
Myers, Maria
1950 - 2017
Maria Francesca Myers, of Lewis Center, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 2, 2017 at The Kobacker House after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old. Born in 1950 in New Rochelle, New York and a graduate of Maria Regina High School, Maria grew up with and always carried an intense pride for her Italian heritage. Mama Maria, as she was fondly known by many, found most joy in being a mother. She opened her home to share her gifts for cooking and storytelling, and her kindness and zest for life. All were family at her table. Loyal and protective, Maria had a way of becoming a caregiver and nurturer to everyone around her. Maria had a successful career in sales, spending her last 11 years as a Senior Advertising Consultant for Columbus Business First newspaper. There she built her legacy as a warm and passionate salesperson, and a revered coworker, friend and mentor. She achieved the company's highest honor as Salesperson of the Year in 2016. Maria always gave back to her church and community. Her most treasured community role earlier in life was with the Dayton Childbirth Education Association. A rebel for her time, Maria was proud to be able to educate women on their ability to choose their own childbirth method. Maria also took pride in being a member of the Board for The Heritage at Hannah Neil. Her giving and acts of kindness are innumerable. Maria is preceded in death by her father Francesco Zito and brother Frank Zito. She is survived by her children, Beth (Mike) Ryan, Faith Myers, Nick Myers, Jordan (Jenie) Myers; grandchildren, Rylie, Ramsey, Jack and Jaycie; brother, Phil (Cindy) Marcy; sister-in-law, Kim Zito; nephews, Matt (Laura, Maya) Zito, Jeff (Ksusha) Zito; and niece, Kristin (John, Giana and Luca) Mpasiakos. Our family would like to thank Dr. Ritu Salani and her team at The James, OhioHealth Hospice and The Kobacker House for the care and compassion they showed Maria and us during her journey. Friends may call on Friday, November 10, from 4-7 pm at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street in Worthington. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 11, at 10 am at Immaculate Conception, 414 E. North Broadway. Father Matthew Hoover, Celebrant. A luncheon will follow the mass. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maria Myers be made to the Gynecologic Oncology Cervical Cancer Research Fund - 312542, c/o OSUCCC-James Development Office, 660 Ackerman Rd; 6th Floor, P.O.
