Marie "Hilda" Sanchez Obituary
Sanchez, Marie "Hilda"
On Sunday January 21, Marie "Hilda" Sanchez, 74 years old, passed away at her home in Bel Air, MD after a long illness. Her husband of 53 years, Leo Sanchez was by her side. Hilda was born in the tiny town of Stockholm, ME to Eddie and Ida Bossie. She graduated from Caribou HS. She met Air Force Master Sergeant Leopold Sanchez a few years later. They married months after meeting, then were stationed in Germany, Florida, California. When Leo retired, they settled in the Columbus, Ohio area, living in Whitehall, then Pickerington for over 40 years. Once her children were older, this homemaker worked in office administration for Kobacker Corporation and the Nurses Association. After retiring, when not cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, she spent time on her many hobbies. An accomplished sewer, Hilda often made clothing for her children when they were young and most recently, her grandchildren. She also hand sewed pillows, curtains, purses, as well as crocheting and knitting. A serious quilter, she loved the complex, artistic challenges of putting together large projects. Her family were often the happy recipients of beautiful handmade items, which seemed to churn out of her colorful sewing room like magic. To be closer to their children, she and her husband moved to Bel Air, MD and learned to cheer for the Ravens too. She was the heart of all family gatherings and will be sorely missed for her kindness and good humor. She is survived by her husband, Leo; daughter, Catherine Sanchez; daughter, Nicole Barton; granddaughter, Kylie. Surviving sisters, Joan, Betty and Maralyn; close family, Neal Barton, Terry Sanchez, Danny Sanchez, Chris Romero, Danielle Sanchez, Jason Sanchez. No service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to her favorite charity: St Jude Children's Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/give.html
