Marilyn (Miller) Palmer Obituary
Palmer Marilyn (Miller) Palmer, age 96, Columbus, Ohio, passed away April 14, 2017. Born in Ashville, Ohio, to the late Taylor and Helen (Ward) Miller. Moved to Columbus, Ohio, in her teens and resided for more than 40 years in Clintonville. Graduated from Rosary High School in 1939. Attended Capital University. Worked for LeRoy Stocklin, D.D.S. in the Beggs Bldg. and for Battelle Memorial Institute. Retired from the Ohio Department of Human Services. Avid bridge player, golfer, bowler, swimmer, reader, tennis player, crossword puzzle enthusiast and an accomplished pianist, seamstress and needle pointer. Proud to have initiated the Brookside Country Club's first Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show narrated by local television pioneer Sally Flowers where Cole of Columbus fashions were featured. Made her only hole-in-one on the Brookside golf course. As a young woman, owned a saddle Bred Horse Farm in Delaware County, showing horses in many states. First lady to show a Two Year Old Fine Harness in the Junior League Horse show in Kentucky. Member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, Upper Arlington Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by her husband Dale H. Palmer, brothers Taylor Arthur (M. Ruth), Richard W., and Donald Lee Miller, sisters Ruth Anne Barnett, Charlotte Ann McClure Michel, and Patricia L. Nichols Hine. Survived by sister, Betty DeHays; close nephews, David McClure and Paul Miller; niece, Vickie Michel Chilton; and grandnephew, Chris Dean. Special thanks to her caring and supportive Clintonville neighbors, friends and caregivers.
