Marilyn K. Paul, 91, died on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus. Marilyn was born on March 9, 1926 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She was the beloved sister of Shirley Irish and sister-in-law of Patrick Irish, both of Columbus, Ohio; and sister of Barbara Kraus, (Sister M. Christina, OSF) of Somerset, Ohio. Loved aunt of Michael Irish Melrose, of MA; Beth Irish Troy, of NY; Lisa Tripp of Pickerington, Ohio; Marc Irish of Winchester, MA; Julie Irish of Newton, MA; and their spouses and partners. Marilyn was the cherished great aunt of 14 nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Florence, brother David and her husband Dr. Carey Paul. Marilyn attended and resided at the St. Aloysius School in New Lexington, Ohio, along with her two sisters following their mother's death in 1939. She graduated high school from St. Aloysius; and was a long-time employee of the Huntington National Bank where she worked as an executive secretary. Marilyn married Dr. Carey Paul in 5/74 in Columbus, Ohio. She and her husband Carey resided in Columbus and Upper Arlington, Ohio and in their vacation homes in Pompano, FL, Marco Island, FL and Grand Lake in Presque Isle, Michigan. Prior to her marriage, Marilyn spent quality time at her "Cabin" in Somerset, Ohio. Marilyn loved and was devoted to her pets Christopher and Le Chat. In her early years Marilyn enjoyed horseback riding and taking French language courses. Throughout her life Marilyn loved to travel she was an avid poker and scrabble player. Marilyn loved sunbathing and had a year around tan from her summer sojourns in the sun. She enjoyed social gatherings and going out for dinner and drinks. Marilyn formed many lifetime friendships but she also valued her time alone. She was devoted to family and was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and a central figure in their lives when they were growing up. Marilyn had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She had a cover girl smile. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 19 at 11 am at the Chapel at the Mother Angeline McCrory Manor on 5199 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43213.
