Obituary Condolences

Sheets Marilyn R. Sheets, age 81, of Delaware, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Ohio Living Sarah Moore Home in Delaware. She was born on December 1, 1935 in Cardington, Ohio to the late Lowell and Doris (Axthelm) Boger and was a 1953 graduate of Cardington High School. In 1974, she married Merrill A. "Pinky" Sheets who had been a high school sweetheart; together they blended their two families. They shared 42 years working side by side in the fields and along life's journey until Merrill's passing on November 5, 2016. Marilyn worked at HPM, OSU, Smith Brothers Hardware, Jane Maish Advertising, Gist Elevator, National City Bank and Brown School. She has served on the Sarah Moore Governing Board, and Sarah Moore Service Board. In addition to owning and operating Bittersweet Farms with her husband Pinky, they also served as Superintendents of the Delaware County Home together for eight years. In 1985, she received the Farm Wife of the Year Award. Marilyn loved to cook and bake, which she was very proud of. She also was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) in Cardington. Left to cherish her memory is her children, Jackie (Jim) Creamer of Dayton, Elizabeth "Liz" Sheets of Toledo, Denise (Doug) Grow of North Lewisburg, Thad Ray of Raymond and Colleen (Scott) Shaw of Delaware; grandchildren, Amber, Sasha, Hayley, Troy, Stephen, Colin, Rob (Mischa), Jamie (Jen); great-grandchildren, Tyana, Bodhi, E'Niyah, E'Mauria, Matthew, Morgan, Jasmine, Jessica and Xavier; sister, Ann (Marvin) Heimlich of Cardington; sister-in-law, Sharon Boger of Cardington; brother-in-law, Merlin "Boots" (Marlene) Sheets of Delaware; extended family, as well as a host of farming and community friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister Larelle Boger and her brother Mannas Boger, sister-in-law and her husband Ron and Rachel Zook. Per their wishes, Marilyn and Pinky's bodies were donated to the Ohio State University Department of Anatomy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at The Barn at All Occasions Banquet Facility, 6989 Waldo-Delaware Rd., Waldo, OH 43356, where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:30 p.m. with Pastor Adam Sornchai officiating.
