Pierce Mary Winifred (Winnie) Pierce, 93, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Winnie was born March 1, 1924 in Corning, OH. After graduating from high school in 1942 she moved to Columbus to live with her sister. It was there she met the love of her life, Bob, to whom she was married 70 1/2 years before his passing in January 2017. Winnie and Bob were blessed to have three children Sue, Jimmy (deceased 1966) and Diane. Winnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a special friend to many. As they raised their children, she was very involved in their lives as a stay-at-home mom, attending various sporting activities and in the PTA programs at their schools. Winnie was a volunteer at Riverside Hospital for over 40 years and was once named Volunteer of the Year. Winnie and Bob loved traveling with their family and they went on many special trips together. Winnie and Bob were avid sports fans and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. For many years, they had season tickets to both the football and basketball games and loved attending the tailgates and the games. After they could no longer attend the games they loved watching them together on TV. Winnie had been a member of Northwest United Methodist Church for over 40 years where she also volunteered for many years. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters-in-law and two sisters and brothers-in-law.
