Matthew John Rainey Obituary
Rainey Matthew John Rainey, 45, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, April 13, 2017 at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born August 29, 1971 in Elyria, Ohio to Richard and Pamela (Abahazi) Rainey. Matt graduated from Elyria High School and later graduated from Ashland University with a bachelor's degree in Science and Business Administration. He worked as a consultant with Integ Enterprise Consulting Industries of Newark, New Jersey and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. When younger, he achieved the honor of being an Eagle Scout for which he was very proud. He continued on his love of scouting and was very active with the Boy Scouts of America Simon Kenton Council and Troop #61 and he was Cub Scout Master for Pack #108. He also enjoyed the outdoors and watching his son play sports. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years, Maryann (Sandman) Rainey; children, Sara, Amanda and Zachary Rainey; mother, Pamela Rainey of Elyria; brothers, Kevin (Shannon) of San Antonio, TX, Mark (Debra) of Macedonia, Martin (Stacey) of Waco, TX, Mel (Jackie) of Elyria, Merrill (Brooke) of Maumee; sister, Monica (Greg) Newsome of Elyria; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Donna Stover of Xenia; sister-in-law, Brenda (Mike) Stover of Xenia. Matt was preceded in death by his father Richard and his father-in-law Dennis Sandman. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the SNYDER RODMAN FUNERAL CENTER, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William Street, Delaware with Rev. Fr. Michael Watson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a luncheon in the Snyder Rodman Community Room.
