Nick Albanese, 93, passed away peacefully alongside his wife on Monday, January 22, 2018. He was born January 31, 1924 in Syracuse, NY to the late Francesco and Lucia Maria Albanese. His family returned to Italy when Nick was seven years old. He lived in Guardiaregia, Italy and served as a guard for an elite special regiment for King Victor Emmanuel III during WWII. He returned to the United States in 1950 where he met his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane Pelino and they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on May 23, 2018. Nick began a lifelong career in the Building Industry as a Custom Home Builder in the Columbus area. He was an avid bowler, hunter, and gardener. Nick was a master at making homemade wine, and was an amazing cook and his favorite meal was venison and potatoes cooked in homemade wine. Nick is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; son, Frank (Terri) Albanese; daughter, Dina (Fred) Schnitzer; former daughter-in-law, Debbie (Shaun) Frame; grandchildren, Andrea (Charlie) Deal, Christen (Aaron) McConnell, Heather (Brian) Biddle, and Natalie Schnitzer (Brandon Palumbo); great-grandchildren, McKenna, Bailee, CJ, Landon, Ashlee, and Kailynn, who will miss his everlasting love and attention. Nick is also survived by his sister-in-law, Concetta (Domenic, deceased) Albanese; nieces, nephews, great-aunt, Betty Stouffer; brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many more loved ones and extended family members. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Church, 1582 Ferris Road, Columbus. Fr. Raymond Larussa, Celebrant. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery.
