Norma Bergamesca Obituary
Bergamesca, Norma
1940 - 2017
Norma Helen Bergamesca, age 77, passed away peacefully August 30, 2017. She was born January 1, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey. Norma grew up in New Jersey, where she met her husband, Bob and together created their family. In 1971, they moved to Ohio, which, due to seeing only 1 "tall" building, was "culture shock" for all of us. She was a stay-at-home mom who was always enthusiastically involved in her children's schools and community. When she lost her husband, she went back to school, worked full-time, started a business - all while continuing to raise her children; showing them a quiet strength and support that never stopped. Norma taught her family the meaning of unconditional love as she always graciously accepted and enjoyed the life that was given to her. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved attending her grandchildren's events & activities where she was their greatest supporter. Her grandchildren loved spending time with her and each other every Christmas at "Camp Grandma"! Norma enjoyed her friends, many of whom became family. She loved her lunches, travel adventures, pool days, movies, card games and support. Her world travels with friends and family brought her lots of joy. When faced with health issues over the past few years, Norma remained positive, strong and thankful for her life. She continued to enjoy time with friends and supporting her family. Her children were often told, "your mother is such a nice woman!" She leaves this world proud of the family she created and satisfied with the life she lived. Norma will be greatly missed by her brother, William Palkowech of West Providence, RI; her children, Beth Ann Craddick of Hilliard, Robert (Michele) Bergamesca of Powell, and Julie (Allan) Miller of Centerville; her grandchildren: Claire & Audrey Craddick, Anthony, Christopher & Joseph Bergamesca, and Maxwell Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend since childhood, Ann (Howard) Moore of Simpsonville, SC and her energetic dog, Barney. Norma is preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Bergamesca, parents William & Helen Palkowech, her sister Susan Popiel, and her loving parents-in-law Frank & Julia Bergamesca and loving sister-in-law Doris Bergamesca. Family will receive friends 4:30-6:30 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the two wonderful organizations that helped Norma during her last year: National Church Residence Hospice and Kobacker House Hospice.
