Norma Elizabeth (Hayhurst) Eckardt, 82, of Columbus, passed Friday, Oct. 20. Preceded in death by her father Merton E. Hayhurst and mother Dorothea L. Hayhurst, sisters Rita and Dottie and brothers David and Charles. Survived by husband, Robert C. Eckardt; daughter, Jane Frances; and sons, Arno C. and Kurt C. (Br. Gabriel of the Incarnation). Also survived by sisters, Marilyn White (Jack), Alice Mitchell (Jim), Julie Koday (John), sister-in-law, Marilyn Wilking (Asbeck) and husband, Glenn; brother-in-law, William (Bill) Asbeck and wife, Patty. Norma had 35 nieces and nephews as well as many grand nieces and nephews. She attended grade school at both St. Augustine in Columbus and St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington, Ohio. She graduated in 1953 from St. Joseph Academy in Columbus. As a teenager, she was a member of the Columbus Girls' Choir. Later, she joined the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. Calling hours are at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Weds., the 25th from 2-4 and 7-9PM with the Rosary beginning at 3:30PM. A Solemn High Requiem Mass will be Celebrated at 10AM on Thurs., the 26th at Holy Family Church, 584 W. Broad St., Columbus. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
