Norman Richard "Dick" Pilkington Sr., age 89, of Reynoldsburg, passed away on October 17, 2017 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Dick was born July 23, 1928, to the late Robert and Ina Louise (VanMeter) Pilkington in Columbus. Dick was a US Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Tarawa (CV-40) as a Plane Captain. He is retired from Capital Fire Protection as Vice-President of construction, a member of East Livingston Baptist Church and member of the VFW. Dick enjoyed traveling with his wife, golf and loved the Buckeyes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his precious son, Tod Pilkington; step-father, Herbert Reed; brother, Robert Pilkington; sister, Florence; and granddaughter, Tamara Boyd. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty (Garlick) Pilkington; daughters, Jackie (Mark) Sander, Carol Pilkington, Deb (Paul) Siemer, Kim (Bill) Ruck; son, Norm Pilkington Jr.; grandchildren, Tony Boyd, Tod (Santa) Ruck, Tami Stemen, Jason (Liz) Pilkington, Tracy Pilkington, Kristopher (Christina) Ruck; Chris (Andi) Sander and Toby (Andy) Kraner. Also survived by special grand-daughter, Heidi (Jody) Sawyers, who always stayed in contact with us and prepared many holiday meals for us, 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews; and special niece & nephew, Marilee and Johnny Green of PA. A visitation will be held on THURSDAY, October 19, 2017, from 3pm-6pm, at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, where his service will immediately follow at 6 pm with Pastor George Winters officiating. Burial in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connelsville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's memory to the East Livingston Baptist Church.
