Peter Bertoia, age 74, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. He was born on August 16, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Romolo and Thelma (Marchi) Bertoia. Peter was preceded in death by his parents Romolo and Thelma (Marchi) Bertoia and a son Dana William Parker. Peter is survived by his wife, Beverly (Daly) Bertoia of 42 years; his sister, Louise (Jim) Gates of Chicago, Illinois; his children, Dirk Parker, Drew (Tammy) Parker, Dean (Teri) Parker, Donn (Shelly) Parker and Dene (Daniel) Slusser; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He graduated from Linden McKinley High School and attended O.S.U. He was Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Dirko's Pizza for 37 years. Peter excelled in bowling and enjoyed fishing, golf and gardening. He liked going to Scioto Downs and loved spending time at his getaway home in Largo, Florida. Peter put up a courageous fight against cancer for over five years. Friends may call on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 beginning at 11 a.m. Bryan Hetterscheidt will be officiating and burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
