Phyllis A. "Toots" Cotter Obituary
Cotter Phyllis A. "Toots" Cotter, 89, left us on July 9, 2017. Born in Columbus, Ohio to Alexander and Helen Howard. Graduate of West High School, Class of 1945, and member of the Band. Attended Ohio State University. Predeceased by husband Thomas A. "Bo" Cotter, and daughter Bridget Cotter Hupp. Survived by daughters, Molly Cotter, Kathleen (Kirk) Schneider, and Gretchen (Gerald) Dyer; grandchildren, Amy (Jude) Mesh, Josh (Whitney) Schneider, Heidi (Casey) Smith, and Kelly Dyer; great grandchildren, Dominik, Audrey, Aleah, Ellie, Alexa, and Isabel. Loyal 4-legged pal, Scrappy. Friends and neighbors, Maureen Burke, Christine and Rob, Betty and Mike, Debbie and Bob, Stephanie and Julie, The Roberts Girls, Adan and Emily, Burke, Dyer, and Schneider Families, and The Macadoo Madames. The Cotter and Eckenrode Cousins. Caregivers Phyllis, Jessica and Anjie. "Toots" worked in the School Cafeterias at St. Mary Magdalene, Ready High School, and Hilltonia Middle School until she was 70 years young. She was an avid gardener, and took bragging rights on having the earliest ripe tomato. She also had an independent spirit, and showed much compassion and care for the underdog. The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Baran, Mount Carmel Health Associates, and Mill Run Rehab Center for their kindness and understanding of Mom's health care. Mom's wish was to return to her home, after her rehab, of which we are all grateful. Those who wish may give to Holy Family Food Pantry or Rescuedohio at www.rescuedohio.org. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 4-7 p.m. at HOPE & HEART BY SCHOEDINGER, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at Our Lady of Sorrow Chapel, St. Joseph's Cemetery, 6440 South High Street, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. Father Craig Eilerman, Celebrant.
