Obituary Condolences

Getz Rachel Marian (Linch) Getz born to the late Emmett and Ethel Linch on September 28, 1928, expired on May 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul on April 8, 2003, brothers Arden, Lester, Charles, Robert, and Arthur, and her sisters Geneva Shreves and Mary Mick. Marian is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Mary-Alison) Fowler and Karen (Lew) Jeffries; stepsons, David (Lou) Getz, Lynn (Sue) Getz; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. For over 35 years she had been an active member of David's United Church of Christ, serving on the governing board as president for two years and as a lay person for five years. She had a great love for her church family and this was expressed by the establishment of a committee that required members to keep in touch with every church member each month. She also served as a member of the church choir for 30 plus years and played in the bell choir from the day it was begun and sang alto in the church octet known as "David's 8". She also sang in the Canal Winchester Community Chorale beginning in 1984. Their purpose was to entertain in nursing homes and various community organizations. At age 62, she began a tap dancing class as well as establishing a daily exercise program she followed religiously. Upon her marriage to Paul Getz, she became very involved in the raising of sheep and loved every minute of living on the farm. Friends may visit from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 at David's United Church of Christ, 80 W. Columbus St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Arrangements by the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147.
