Rachel Reed Obituary
Reed, Rachel
1973 - 2017
Rachel Marie Reed, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the age of 44. She was born in Piqua, Ohio, on February 9, 1973, to Marcia and Don Reed. Rachel studied cosmetology and after graduating from Houston High School in 1991 she worked in Sidney, Ohio, and Palm Beach, Florida, as a stylist. Her career ultimately brought her to Columbus, Ohio, where she has worked for Charles Penzone Salons for the last 22 years as a stylist. In 2001, Rachel helped open a Penzone Salon on Henderson Road called "Q", now known as MAX THE SALON where she was currently a senior director. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers and loyal clients. Rachel's creativity was evident in everything she touched; her work, her home, her hobbies and her beautiful gardens. In her own words, Rachel was grateful for "my son, my job, my mind, my house, my health, my clients, my kindness, who I am, my friends, being smart and love of animals". Rachel was preceded in death by her mother Marcia Johnson Reed of Piqua, Ohio. Rachel is survived by her loving son, Reed Jones, 14; her father, Don Reed of Piqua, Ohio; her brother, Derek Reed of Piqua, Ohio; her loving partner, Chris Lawson; and her beloved dogs, Mia and Pete; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and clients. Rachel's family would like to thank the caregivers of Kindred Hospice for their support and gentle care. A celebration of Rachel's life will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road.
In lieu flowers, donations can be made to Kindred Hospice Foundation, 540 Officenter Place, Suite 100, Gahanna, OH 43230. (www.gentivahospicefoundation.org) or your local animal rescue agency.
