Richard Garcia Obituary
Garcia, Richard
1968 - 2018
On June 10, 2018, Richard "Richie" Garcia, 49, of Delaware, Ohio, lost a short battle to cancer while surrounded by his wife, children and immediate family. Born in New York City on November 6, 1968, Richie loved his family and friends unconditionally and would do anything in the world for his children. He was the best father, role model and protector. Many of his friends describe him as a "gentle giant" who always put others before himself. He loved hosting parties where you could find him DJ'ing, telling a funny story or showing his wedding video as this was the happiest day of his life aside from the birth of his children. Richie is survived by his wife, Christine Garcia of 15 years; two children, Lilliana Garcia and Richard "Cheech" Garcia, Jr.; his mother, Lucy Garcia; sister, Christine Garcia; step-sister, Vivian Estrada; step-brother, Oscar Garcia; mother and father-in-law, Diana and David Melko; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Oscar Garcia, he is preceded in death by his grandparents. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware, OH. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William Street, Delaware, OH followed by a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room hosted by the St. Mary Bereavement Committee. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Richard "Richie" Garcia Memorial Fund. Checks can be mailed to: Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan, P.O. Box 279, Delaware, OH 43015. Funds will be used to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance and a college fund for his children. The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Garcia family.
