Richard R. Tarantelli, ("Tar") 86, of Worthington, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the love and support of his family. He was born December 19, 1931 and raised in Marion, Ohio, the second of two sons of Orlando and Lucille (DeSimone) Tarantelli. Upon graduation from St. Mary's High School in Marion Richard enrolled at The Ohio State University. After two years at the university he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the time of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Richard completed his degree from The Ohio State University where he met his wife of over 60 years Carol Ann Tarantelli (Johnston). After graduation Richard held several positions with various entities including a long-held position of technical writer at American Electric Power where he retired in 1999. Tar took great pleasure in his family and was known for his infectious good nature and upbeat disposition. He enjoyed his time on the golf course, his dog Tarni and cheering on the Buckeyes. He is survived by his loving wife; daughters, Teri Mueller (Greg) and Lisa Tolbert (William); and son, Richard Tarantelli (Susan); and grandchildren, Amanda Goodwin, Kevin Goodwin, William Tolbert III, Angela Tolbert, Carolyn Tolbert, Zachary Tarantelli and Nathan Tarantelli. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother Peter Tarantelli of Schenectady, New York. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schoedinger Funeral Home at 6699 North High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085, where friends will be received Wednesday 5-8 p.m. on January 24, 2018. The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 10 a.m. at the same location with Deacon John Crerand presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kobacker House, Attn.: Ohio Health Foundation, PO Box 600001, Columbus, Ohio 43237-9802 in his memory.
