Robert Keller Obituary
Keller, Robert
1924 - 2017
Robert O. Keller, 93, died peacefully on December 26, hours after his wife Virginia's death, after 65 years of marriage. "Bob" was the son of Jeptha and Myrtha Parrish Keller of Baltimore, Ohio. After Bob's graduation from Liberty Union High School in 1942, he joined the WWII effort in the U.S. Navy and was first assigned to a position in San Francisco where he used his typing skills to send coded messages to naval commanders in Australia and was later stationed on Guam. After the war, Bob returned to Columbus, Ohio where he was a sales representative for Nabisco, Inc. for 38 years and known affectionately as "cookie man" in northern Columbus and Worthington groceries. He was an avid gardener, growing vegetables, fruit trees and flowers in his substantial yard until this fall. He grew so many tomatoes, that he often brought extra to friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. Bob loved golf and played from his 20s until well into his 80s, with assistance in later years from his kind golfing buddies. Bob leaves his daughter Deborah K. O'Donnell and son-in-law John O'Donnell of Glastonbury, Connecticut, daughter Sandra L. Stein and son-in-law John Stein of Naples, Florida, grandson James A. O'Donnell and grand-daughter-in-law Kristen O'Donnell of East Haven, Connecticut, and Richard J. Stein of Naples, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob's family thanks the staff at The Laurels of Norworth for his skilled care in his last days, as well as nurses from Mt. Carmel Hospice. A memorial service will be held later this winter.
