Robert Kunovich Obituary
Kunovich, Robert
1945 - 2018
Robert Stephen Kunovich, 72, of New Albany, passed away at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital on January 19, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on June 21, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Peter and Louise (Cvetan) Kunovich. He was married to Kathleen Rogan, also of Youngstown on June 21, 1969. He was preceded in death by his sister Dianne. He is survived by Kathleen; along with their two children, Robert Michael Kunovich of Dallas, TX and Lisa Kunovich, resident of the Heinzerling Memorial Foundation. In addition, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sheri and his two grandchildren, Zoe and Xavier, all of Dallas, TX. Bob attended Austintown Fitch High School, Youngstown State University, and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He served in the US Army for 2 years following graduation from the OSU College of Dentistry and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington State, where he liked to say that he fought tooth decay. After his service, he returned to Columbus and was employed by the OSU College of Dentistry for 33 years. He truly love the university, the friendships he made, and of course the Buckeye sports teams. His hobbies were golfing and fishing, which occupied his retirement years, and driving his wife to fabric stores, knowing that as long as his wife had fabric to quilt, he'd have plenty of time to golf and fish. In conjunction with SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Resurrection, New Albany, on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11AM. Fr. Michael Lumpe, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Heinzerling Community, Attn: Brian Asbury 1800 Heinzerling Drive, Columbus, OH 43223, https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1431566 or to the James Cancer Hospital (https://cancer.osu.edu/giving-back).
