Robert M. "Bob" Parsons Obituary
Parsons Robert M. "Bob" Parsons, age 72, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, entered the life eternal on April 10, 2017, while vacationing in Corsica. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Norma Parsons, and sisters Eileen Grandy and Donna Johnson. Survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cheryl; and his daughters, Trina L. (Miller) Vielhauer and husband, Bud, of Tallahassee, Florida, Kristie R. (Miller) Linard and husband, Jim of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and very special grandsons, Dylan R. Vielhauer and Jacob J. Linard. He is also survived by sisters, Doris (Harold) Grandy, Mary Lou (Kenny) Koloff; and brother, Roger (Linda) Parsons; as well as wonderful nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren. Bob was born January 26, 1945 in Columbus and attended University High School, graduating in 1963. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and played football and baseball and became a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Bob graduated from The Ohio State University in 1967 and attended law school at OSU until he was drafted. He served in the Army with the First Division in Vietnam receiving the Bronze Star and Oak Leaf Cluster. He graduated from Ohio State's law school in 1972. He started work for Nationwide Insurance while in school and retired after 35 years of service in 2005. Bob began sharing the spirit of Santa Claus for his nieces and nephews while attending OSU and continued this annual tradition with numerous family and friends for the remainder of his life. He married Cheryl in 1976 and through her job with TWA, learned to enjoy traveling. Those travels included several mission trips including Russia. Bob served on many committees and valued the support of the Trinity family, especially their coupled group "STUMPS". Bob and Cheryl served as coordinators for the Trinity youth for many years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Marble Cliff, OH 43212. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity Foundation, designating Youth Ministries, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Marble Cliff, OH 43212.
