Ruth Frysinger Obituary
Frysinger, Ruth
Ruth Adele Frysinger, 93, passed to life eternal under hospice care on April 9, 2018 at Parkside Senior Living Center in Westerville, Ohio, where she had been a resident since July, 2012. Her death followed a long battle against heart and kidney diseases and diabetes. Ruth was born in Lima, Ohio on December 13, 1924 to Harold Conner and Pearl Adele Cochensparger, who last lived near Lafayette, Ohio. On August 20, 1944 she married Robert Jacob Frysinger, who preceded her in death, as did her parents and brother Harold Conner Cochensparger, Jr. Ruth and Robert had five children who all survive her. They are James Robert, Linda Sue, William David, Richard Thomas, and Steven Paul Frysinger. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ruth grew up during the depression and lived on a farm near Lafayette, Ohio during her later childhood years. She accompanied her husband Robert during the last year of World War II and the Korean War as he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. When Robert was promoted from Ohio Power to a position with American Electric Power, in New York City at the time, her family moved to New Jersey and lived there until AEP moved to Columbus, Ohio. During that sojourn in New Jersey, Ruth started working on a volunteer rescue squad, and then trained and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later trained and served as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey, where she lived from 1960 to 1981. When she and Robert moved to Westerville she continued working as an RN doing private duty and home care. She also became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church on E. Walnut Street. She was an accomplished amateur musician who sang in the church choirs wherever she worshiped and in Sweet Adelines. Notably she played the oboe for 72 years, most recently for several years in the Westerville Community Band. Ruth passed her musical aptitude and interest to a large number of her survivors. Ruth chose to have her remains cremated, which will be done by the Ohio Cremation Society. Her cremains will be interred at St. Paul's Cemetery following a memorial service at St. Paul's at a date yet to be determined.
