I just noticed the passing of Austin and wish to express my appreciation for the work that he did in organizing the reunions for the Harper family in Burnham, PA. I wish I had known sooner.

Joyce, Sam always had a smile on his face and I have a feeling you may have been a big part of the reason it was there. It seemed like you two were getting such a kick out of life. Such a great way to be. My heart is with you.

Dennis & the entire Shuman Family:

I am saddened by Sam's passing. He was an outstanding leader, and from my direct knowledge, particularly as a leader within the mechanical contracting community. His extensive contributions are the ones that are continuing to be built upon.

I will not forget this remarkable gentleman!

My Uncle Austin was a great man, father, husband, and brother to my mother Minnie Evelyn. He filled a void in our lives at a young age and was always present in our decisions to live right. He was a voice I would always look forward to hear and I will forever miss him.

Dennis, Mike and family:

I was so saddened this morning to learn of Sam's passing. He was a wonderful leader of people and a great mentor to a young industry engineer. It is impossible for me to tell you how often I consider Sam's training as I work day-to-day. In fact, I smile each time I look at the MCA estimating guide and see the piping details Jim Jefferson and I did on Sam's behalf. I will miss him, and our industry will have a void without his leadership. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and the broader 'Speer Family.'
