Stanley "Stan" Hamilton Obituary
Hamilton Stanley "Stan" Hamilton, passed away at home on June 19, 2017. Stan was born on May 15, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. Stan was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Julia Hamilton. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Carrie Perdue-Hamilton; brothers, Thomas, Bernard and Marvin; son, Henry; grandson, Amir; and Aunt Mary Bruce of Columbia, South Carolina; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. While living in Philadelphia he taught high school social studies in the Philadelphia school system. He was chosen for a three year appointment as the first African-American Senior High School liaison teacher for the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. He performed so well that he remained in the position for nine years. Stan attended West Catholic High School and Temple University. He moved to Columbus in 1999 where he worked for Cigna Health Care, Life Skills Charter School and the Urban League. He married Carrie Perdue after meeting her on a blind date arranged by Patricia Perdue. He inherited a step-daughter and three step grandchildren, Keaton, Ashton and Tristyn. Donations in memory of Stan can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association. A private family memorial service was held for Stan.
