August 17, 1957 - February 19, 2018
Terence Patrick "Terry" Gilmore, died at home in Colorado Springs, CO on February 19, 2018 at the age of 60. He was born in Columbus, OH on August 17, 1957 to Wilson Gilmore and Rosemary Bechtel Gilmore Zicht both of whom who preceded him in death. Terry grew up in Upper Arlington, OH and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. His 27-year career as a sales and marketing executive in the oil services industry took him from Ohio to California and ultimately to Houston, TX where he worked for Flow Serve until his retirement in 2006. It was in Houston that Terry met Patricia Rose. He and Trish were married in 1985. They retired to Colorado Springs in 2006 where they enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors with their beloved golden retrievers Darby, Murphy and Sophie. Terry began playing lacrosse in middle school, which began a life-long love for the game. He played on the newly-formed team at Upper Arlington High School where he was leading scorer and a co-captain. At Ohio State, he was the all-time leading scorer in points, a record which still stands today. He earned All-American honors twice and became the fist-ever lacrosse player inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of fame. After college, Terry continued playing on various club, masters, and grand masters teams, traveling to tournaments across the country. He also coached youth, high school, and college lacrosse in Houston and Colorado Springs, and this allowed him to share his love and knowledge of the game while developing leadership skills in the young players he coached. His was also preceded in death by his sister Leslie Gilmore Carter and brother Timothy Wilson Gilmore. In addition to Trish, Terry is survived by his sister, Donna (Dan) Donovan of Upper Arlington; stepfather, Robert Zicht of Upper Arlington; and step siblings, Eric (Jennifer) Zicht of Vienna, VA, Laurie (Chuck) Sargent of Bethel Park, PA, Cheryl (Scott) Tate of Lake City, CO and Robert (Karen) Zicht of Tampa, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
