Bryant, Thelma
1933 - 2021
March 18, 2021, Thelma Bryant, 88 years young, loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Nelson and Grace (Miller) Lethridge, siblings Delores Shoats, Geneva Allen and John Lethridge, son Michael Bland, and grandson Jeffrey Bryant Jr. She leaves behind her siblings, Lillian (Bob) Avery and Paul (Sylvia) Lethridge; children, Melissa Bland, Brenda Hammonds, Deena (John) Hughes, Robin Loney, Tracey (Vic) Bryant, Eric (Cher) Bland, Kevin Bryant, Andre' Bryant and Sean Bryant; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends, including her cats, Baby, BiBi, and Billy Bob. Thelma grew up in Nelsonville, OH. She later lived in Columbus, OH and Detroit, MI before eventually settling in Columbus, OH. She retired from the Ohio Department of Education Child Nutrition Services after serving 25+ years. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working part-time as a tax preparer, and just doing whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. She enjoyed cooking and having family gather at her home. She always had an open door; whether you needed a place to stay or just a hot meal, she was there. Her family and friends are going to miss her amazing cooking. Every Sunday morning, the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven, while she sang to James Cleveland playing in the background, will always be a wonderful memory for everyone. Family, friends, and all those Thelma touched are invited to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St., on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 9-10am for a walk-thru visitation. Funeral Services are 10-11am and are limited to family only due to COVID restrictions. All visitors are asked to wear an appropriate cloth face covering and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. Thelma was a beloved co-worker at the Ohio Department of Education where her professional skill as a secretary to Laura Pernice and myself was always appreciated. Our first introduction to Thelma came as she accepted a position with the Vocational Home Economics Section at the Ohio Department of Education. Later she moved to the Ohio Child and Adult Care Food Program, as we did, and the relationship continued. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed working with Thelma. She did everything well. She will be missed by family and friends.

Sadden, just learning of the passing of a very special person. Thelma Bryant was my Special Assistant in the Office of Child Nutrition Services, Ohio Department of Education. She was so loyal, qualified, caring and trustworthy. In my frequent travels I always knew Thelma had my back. It was evident that she loved her family and was dedicated to giving them love and support. Every one touched by Thelma Bryant was truly blessed.
Rest In Peace dear lady,
