Thomas "Tom" J. David, 76, longtime Columbus area resident, passed away February 27, 2018 at Riverside Hospital. Tom was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 3, 1941 to the late Laurence and Jeanette (Keown) David. He graduated from Lexington (VA) High School in 1960 and received a B.S. in Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati in 1967. He married Dorothy M. Pohlman, his wife of 34 years, and they moved to Columbus, OH, with their two sons, in 1969. Tom enjoyed a long career with the industrial design firm, Richardson/Smith, and won numerous industry awards for innovative design and environmentally sustainable product development. In addition, he was an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University, taught at the University of Cincinnati and lectured at the Harvard Business School. In retirement, Tom was an avid painter and volunteer at Riverside Hospital. In 2015, Tom was inducted into the Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame for his advocacy of art therapy for terminally ill patients. Tom will be remembered for his humor, creativity, and love of family, Corvettes and the Cincinnati Bengals. Tom is survived by his sons, Doug David of Columbus and Scott (Kim) David of Baltimore, Maryland; his siblings, Barbara David, Martha Sutherland and John David; granddaughters, Caroline, Emily, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Chloe David; great-grandson, Brodrick Spicer. A Celebration of Life is planned for April 7, 2018 at 10 am at the Wesley Glen Retirement Community, 5155 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
