Thomas H. Gundelfinger, 81, of Columbus, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Mt. Carmel Hospice and Palliative Care. Tom was born on April 26, 1936, in Pleasant Township, Fairfield County to the late Frederick and Ruth (Oatney) Gundelfinger. He led an adventurous early life with two hitchhiking trips to California along Route 66 and a short stint in the U.S Navy in 1953. Tom joined Columbia Gas in 1957 where he stayed for 38 years. Tom married Marty Thomas in 1959 and together raised 6 children. Tom and Marty were married for 36 years before divorcing in 1995. He is a member of St. Ladislas Catholic Church in south Columbus and is an avid fan and practitioner of the fine art of karaoke. Pam Cremeans of Columbus has been Tom's caring companion for the last 5 years, they were steadfast in their love for each other until the end. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Ruth, his father Frederick, his sisters Juanita Seifert (Brandt), Clara Hill (Joe), and Alice Deal (Ed). Tom is survived by sisters, Phyllis Bierly (Bud), Julia Nemitz (Kenny), Sharon Hoffman (Fred); children, Kathie Bibler (Rex), Tony, Matthew, Tammy Schmelzer (Tim), Amy White (Scott), and Lisa Moos (Doug); grandchildren, Angie, Mindi, Marc, Jennifer, Brittany, Andrew, Michael, Zachary, Heidi, Erica, and Natalee; the extended Cremeans family, Buckeye Donut Shop friends, and Karaoke family; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at 1:30PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Sheridan Funeral Home Lancaster. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 25 from 11 AM-1:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice and Palliative Care through the Mount Carmel Foundation (mountcarmelfoundation.org)
