Lombardo, Viola
1928 - 2017
Viola "Vi" Catherine Lombardo, age 88, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 11, 2017 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, to the late George and Clara Ricci and grew up on the south end of Columbus. She attended St. Ladislas grade school and St. Mary's high school. Vi married her beloved husband, the late August (Gus) Lombardo, at Christ the King Catholic Church and began their married life on the east side, where they raised their three sons. Vi's home was always the gathering place for holiday meals and family celebrations. Relatives and friends could always count on a warm welcome and delicious Italian food. Vi was a proud retiree of Nationwide Insurance. After retirement, Vi and Gus enjoyed many years of traveling and they were active in many senior and charitable activities. Vi spent her later years residing at the Inn at Olentangy Trail and Mother Angeline McCrory Manor where she made many dear friends among the residents and staff. Vi was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, and previously attended St. Pius X and Christ the King. Vi was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, August Lombardo in 2010, and by her sister Anne Valentino, brother-in-law Charles Valentino, and niece Anita Valentino. She was the proud mother of George (Anita) Lombardo, Charles (Jessica Seeley) Lombardo, and Robert (Linda) Lombardo. Viola adored her grandchildren - Aimee (Sky) Mielke, Aleena, Aidan, Ashton, Nina, and Lucia Lombardo, and Lyndsay Kincaid, and her great-grandchildren - Cambrie, Strake, and Pierson Mielke and Mariah and Tysen Kincaid. Family will receive friends Friday 4-7 p.m. with Rosary to begin at 3:45 p.m. at MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S.
