Virginia Rupp Obituary

RUPP Virginia Ann Rupp, age 85, stepped up into heaven on June 18, 2005 after a valiant 36 day struggle to over-come problems following heart surgery. She was born the daughter of Edward and Meade Buehrer in Archbold Ohio, graduated from Ohio State University in 1941, and married Robert L. Rupp in February, 1943. Although they did not date until college, they knew each other since the first grade. In the 1970's she owned 6 women's clothing and Pappagallo Shoe stores, most in the Columbus area. She was preceded in death by her sister Alice Rice, and besides her husband of 62 years, she is survived by son, Dan (Kathy) Rupp; daughter, Julia Rupp; and son, Ben Rupp (all of Columbus), and son, Robert O. Rupp (Lynn) of Buckhannon, West Virginia; grandchildren, Abby (Jon) Benjamin, Emily (who is serving in the Peace Corps in Ghana) and Tad Rupp, Christopher, Meade and Daniel Rupp, and Travis, Niles and Virginia Moore; and great-grandchildren, Hanna and Alex Benjamin. For 45 years she also loved and cared for a succession of four Old English Sheepdogs, all named Manfred. A long-time resident of Upper Arlington, she had many good and faithful friends at their beloved family cottage in northern Michigan, as well as in St. Petersburg, Florida and Columbus. Despite a variety of aliments in the past few years, she never ever complained and always looked forward with grace, generosity, and goodwill. We are blessed that she lived so long and so well. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd. Interment will take place in Archbold Cemetery, Archbold, OH. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Columbus, or the Methodist Church in Archbold, Ohio.
