Willard Evans, Jr., age 69, was called to his heavenly "Home" on December 26, 2017. He was born on July 19, 1948 in Paintsville, KY the 3rd son of the late Willard Evans, Sr. and Mary Doll (Stacy) Evans. Preceded in death by brother, Columbus Evans (1945); son-in-law, Paul E. Bender, III (2011); nephew, John S. Evans (2013); and great grandbaby (2016). Raised in Crum, West Virginia with surviving siblings, Earnest (Betty) Evans, Virginia (Melvin) Walker, Veva (Dennis) Block. Graduated from Crum High School, Class of 1966. Willard married his "Baby Doll", Judith Bates on March 6, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio and their life of love began. Together they had one daughter, Missy Ann and one son, Matthew Allen. Praised the Lord with the arrival of granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Bender-Skaggs (David) and 18 months later with the arrival of Jordan Melissa Evans (Fiancé, Devan). "Paw Paw" was an active pillar of strength and unconditional love from the moment they were born. Katie and Jordan were with him in his final hours. Willard had a special place in his heart for "Little Man" Aiden Evans. Willard retired from The Ohio State University. Loved many nephews, nieces, aunts uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8:30 pm at the HOPE & HEART FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. Willard will be transported by Callaham Funeral Home to The Silver Creek United Baptist Church, Crum, WV where visitation will begin promptly at 6:00 pm on January 12, 2018 where funeral service will take place, at the church at 11:00 am on January 13, 2018 with Joshua Walker and Del Crum officiating. Private family burial service will be at a later date in the family cemetery in Webb, WV. Visit www.hopeandheart.com to share a favorite memory of Willard.
