William Allard Hennosy, 90, passed away, Monday, August 8, 2017 at Brookdale at Lakeview Crossing in Groveport, Ohio. Formerly of Lancaster and after retirement moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was born on July 5, 1927 in Pomeroy, Ohio. William then moved to Columbus, Ohio with his brother Paul and late parents William and Mary (Pratt) Hennosy. They resided in Franklinton area of Columbus where he graduated from Holy Family School. In 1945 at the age of 17 he joined the Navy and served in World War ll and later the Korean Conflict. After serving, he went to photography school in New York and traveled the country working for Olan Mills Photography. In 1950 he was hired in the Columbus Fire Dept. where he worked for 33 years and retired with the rank of Captain. In 1984-1991 Bill was the appointed by then Governor Celeste to serve as State Fire Marshall. Through high school friends he met his wife Mary Kathryn "Kitty" Schmidt and married in 1956 until Kitty's passing in 1978. In 1958 they started a family of five sons and three daughters, Steve (Kelly), Brenda Blaies, Teresa (Robert) Scherman, David (Jonda), Mark (Debbie), Paula (Raymond) Crabtree, Rich (Jasmin), Andy; Bill's current, wife Lois F. Hennosy; 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild; brother, Paul (Susan); numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 5170 Winchester-Southern Rd. NW, (Lithopolis) Canal Winchester, OH with a Funeral Mass 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Fr. Denis Kigozi officiant. Interment will follow in Lithopolis Cemetery. Family request, in lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to Pelotonia, 351 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus, OH 43215.
