William T. Boyd Obituary
Boyd William T. Boyd, of Galena, formerly of Gahanna, passed away on June 25, 2017 at the age of 91. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater. Predeceased by loving wife Eunice and brothers Harold, Charles and Dr. James. The beloved brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather is survived by his twin brother, Dr. Milton Boyd; daughter, Dr. Barbara Boyd and her husband, Bruce Wright; son, Thomas Boyd and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Michael Plaster (Courtney) and Kaitlyn Boyd; and great grandchild, Chloe Plaster. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. He graduated from Washington State University (B.S.) and The Ohio State University (M.S.). He was an avid OSU football fan, a lifetime member of the OSU alumni association, and a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Gahanna, where he served on many committees and as President of the Congregation. After retiring from Rockwell International he was active as a volunteer at his church, Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry, AARP tax-aide program, Gahanna Senior Center, and Meals on Wheels. He loved to play golf and for many years planned the golf outings for the Gahanna Seniors. A prolific traveler, in the US and abroad, he visited most of the 50 states and more than 30 foreign countries. He is a member of the Heritage Society of Capital University, Lutheran Social Services, the legacy associations of WSU and OSU, and was a longtime member of the Gypsies Travel Club and Orbiting Squares dance club. In recent years he was an avid bridge player at both the Delaware and Westerville Senior Centers. Family will welcome friends 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Clark State Rd., Gahanna with interment to follow at Mifflin Twp. Cemetery.
