Stanley L. Wepking

1936 - 2014

Wepking Stanley L. Wepking, age 77, of Gahanna, OH, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014. He was born to the late Dallas and Daisy Wepking on June 11, 1936 in Lancaster, WI. Stan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He served in the US Army for 23 years retiring as Sgt. 1st Class. He served with the 101st and 82nd Divisions and the 173rd Airborne Regiment. He served two combat tours in Vietnam and tours in Germany and Korea. Stan was a proud member of the Green Berets and served 12 years as a paratrooper. His military service culminated with the award of the Bronze Star Medal. Stan served as President of the Gahanna Lion's Club and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a dedicated member and Commander of VFW Post#4719, a long-time member of the American Legion #797, a proud member of the Honor Guard, and active member of Mifflin Presbyterian Church. Stan enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and going on trips with his family. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan and had a great sense of humor. He will be tremendously missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth A. (VanNatta); sons, Brian (Cindy) and Phil (Kelly); grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Joshua, Madison, Kendall, Trystan, and Delaney, brother, Richard (Marleen); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Mifflin Presbyterian Church, 123 Granville Street, Gahanna, OH 43230. Pastor Ron Lokhorst and Pastor Nancy Carle officiating. Interment at Mifflin cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mifflin Presbyterian Church, VFW Post#4719, Gahanna Lion's Club, or to The American Legion #797.
