Raymond Wilkinson Pettigrew
Raymond Wilkinson Pettigrew, age 94 of Murfreesboro, TN, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday February 12, 2013. He was a native of Roanoke, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Erma Wilkinson Pettigrew and his first wife, Virginia Pettigrew, and sister Mary Garber.
Mr. Pettigrew was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, and was an active Gideon in Murfreesboro. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army Air Corps, and was a graduate of State Normal in Illinois. He received his Master's Degree from Hartford University in Hartford Connecticut. Mr. Pettigrew was retired from Travelers Insurance Company. Mr. Pettigrew was 32nd Degree Mason and avid Golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Libby Pettigrew; sons, Robert Pettigrew and wife Kathy of California, Dr. David Pettigrew of Connecticut; step-children; Bill Bales and wife Connie of North Carolina, Annette Rhody and husband Randy of Smithville, Lindy Cranwell and husband Wes of Virginia; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mr. Pettigrew life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. Dr. Michael O'Bannon will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Gideon's International in memory of Mr. Pettigrew. Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Murfreesboro is in charge of arrangements. www.woodfinchapel.com 615-893-5151.
