Elizabeth Anne Beesley Palmer
Elizabeth Anne Beesley Palmer, age 81 of Nashville, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at her residence at Brighton Gardens in Brentwood, TN (Some records show the name Beesley also spelled Beasley).
She was born on April 8, 1931 in Murfreesboro, TN, the only child of the late Orion Dudley Beesley and the late Susie Gray Carlton Beesley (Some records also show the name Orion spelled as Orin). Anne was also preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Elmer Palmer, Jr. and her son, Rupert Dudley Palmer.
Anne is survived by her brother-in-law and his wife, Robert Jerry Palmer and Mary Shaub Palmer, including their children, Robert J. Palmer, Jr., Daniel C. Palmer, Jonathan S. Palmer and Lydia S. Palmer. She is also survived by her dear friends and caregivers, Deborah Sweet and Jill Adkins.
Ann graduated from Murfreesboro Central High School in 1948. She went on to attend graduate school at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), where she met her sweetheart, Rupert Palmer. The couple was married at her father's home in Murfreesboro on August 28, 1954. Rupert later received a Ph.D. in English from Yale University, where Anne also worked in the rare book section of the library until the birth of their son.
After the birth of their son, Anne was a homemaker, but continued her love of books for the rest of her life, by collecting them and enjoying their charm, history and character. The family enjoyed spending the summers with their family in Blue Ridge Summit, PA, as well as traveling to England. Anne was a proud survivor of breast cancer.
She will be laid to rest beside her parents at Evergreen Cemetery in the Garden of Azalea, 519 Greenland Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 as part of a graveside service on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Two O'clock in the afternoon.
In lieu of customary floral tributes, the Estate of Anne Palmer requests that donations be made to The Ingram Cancer Center Fund, Vanderbilt Gift Processing Office, PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240.
