Irvin Riley Phillips

Murfreesboro, TN resident and Glendo, WY native, Irvin Riley Phillips, age 86, was born February 10, 1927 and died May 3, 2013 at Middle TN Medical Center in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.

Retired from construction and a United States Navy veteran of WWII, he was the son of the late William David and Louise Caroline Nelson Phillips. He was married to Fumiko Takahara Phillips of Murfreesboro.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Yoneko (John) Kenyon of Wichita, KS, William D. (Vicki) Phillips of Atlanta, GA and Eugene (Irma) Phillips of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Kassees of Murfreesboro, David Phillips of Murfreesboro and Vanessa Phillips of Lawrence, KS; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine Phillips and Robert, Kaitlyn and Jacob Kassees, all of Murfreesboro; three sisters and two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Warren County, TN with Rickey Minton officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Friends are to meet at the cemetery Monday.
