Pete, there are no words that can express the loss of a child. There just isn't any! But there are words that express the life of a Soldier, as I'm sure your son was! "He is a selfless person who gives his sole to protect and defend what is right. He's not afraid to die for his family or his Country." I had not the honor to have met your son Stephen, but I know he was a brave young man who's father loved him so much. If ever you need to talk to me I will be here for you as you have been for me. Although years have past since we had last spoke, I am still and always will be your friend. May God give you and your family strength and peace during this most difficult time. Patrick

I didn't know Stephen but I know your grief. In October of 2010, I lost my 27 year old son Kyle. Please know that there are many of us whose hearts ache for your family and the journey of grief you are beginning. And please know that you will not always be feeling the despair you are feeling right now. Somehow, with God's help, you get to a place where it is bearable.

Abdoooo!!!!!!! I miss you man God knows I do it just took until this very second for me to realize that you're gone I got chills seeing your name and obituary together but the picture of your BILLION dollar smile and your corny dance moves brought joy in my heart. We have stood side by side through the storms of war and had the best of times doing it. Because of you I'm still addicted to guitar hero,Steve vai, heck I may even get a mini just for you! I miss you asking to borrow clothes, using every drop of my cologne and using all of my toothpaste but to have you back i'd buy sensidine out for you. I have one favor to ask of you... Please continue to stand by me and continue to be the friend that you have been to me. You told me you couldn't wait for me to have a little Dove, well I have one now and every time I look at him now I will think about my fallen brother that will never get a chance to meet him. Well I'm sitting on staff duty crying now so until next time. I love you bro and fly high

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. He was a very good-looking young man. Someday you will see him again in heaven and that leaves you with a very good reason to live a beautiful life knowing that you will see him again. I'm Carol Anderson Burns' first cousin by marriage. If he was as wonderful (and I'm sure he was) as Carol, he was quite remarkable.

Kim, I can't even begin to fathom the loss you're feeling right now but I just wanted you to know how sad I am for the hole in your heart and the longing in your soul to see your son in human form just one more time. Just know that his spirit has broken through the human bonds and is free to be.
