Millard Green "MG" Scott

Millard Green "MG" Scott, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Alvin C. York Medical Center.

Mr. Scott was born September 12, 1922 in Celina, TN and has lived in Murfreesboro since 1955. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of United States Army that served during World War II in battles at Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe for which he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with five Bronze Stars. Mr. Scott was a retired truck driver for Malone & Hyde Company, a former employee of Rutherford County Convenience Center at Walter Hill and Lascassas and former member of the Rutherford County Rescue Squad.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Cross and Ochie Dunning Scott; two infant children, Danny Eugene Scott and Sandra Kaye Scott; brother, Fred Scott; sisters, Myrtle Poindexter and Christine Brown; and his extended family, Chris and Kelli Hollandsworth and Maggie Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Polly Crowder Scott; daughters, Peggy Hollandsworth (Glenn), Debbie Patterson (Randy Gann); granddaughter, Tonya Timbs (J D Miller) all of Murfreesboro; sister, Mayme Poindexter of Celina; his cat, Milo; several nieces and nephews; extended family, Kayla Dayton, C. Glenn Hollandsworth, Candace and Ryan Gann, Ashley Lane Hatfield.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Stone, Mike Short, John Anderson, Ardell Anderson, Larry Hollandsworth, Glenn Orrand, Casey Hatfield, Vernon Cook and James Crowder.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers of the ICU Unit and Hospice floor at Alvin C. York Medical Center, especially three special nurses of the ICU Unit, Stacy, Beth and Jeannie for their loving care and concern. Mr. Scott was a great husband, daddy and granddaddy. He loved his family, fishing and farming, especially working in the hay fields.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Tom Toner and Paul Norwood will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, (615) 893-5151
