Rita Ellen Frizzell

Rita Ellen Frizzell, age 56 of Nashville, died Friday, May 10, 2013 after fighting a long brave battle with cancer.

She was a native of Rutherford County and was a member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville. Ms. Frizzell was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a major in Religious Education, and a minor in Bible and Psychology. Ms. Frizzell trained extensively with Landmark Education, a global leader in the field of training and development. The programs of Landmark Education are designed to bring about a fundamental shift or transformation in what is possible in people's lives. She was a self-employed Graphic Design Artist and had formerly worked for Frank, Best, and Ingram Adverting Firm.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, T.P. "Doc" and Vera Looney Burns, William Xanton and Jimmie Lee Frizzell; beloved nephew, Jordan Wayne Henderson, and former husband, Steve Samford.

She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Sarah Ellen Burns Frizzell; brother, Kenneth Lloyd Frizzell and wife Doris Crews Frizzell of Murfreesboro; long-time loving companion and rescued pet, Stella; and a host of other family and friends.

Ms. Frizzell formerly danced with Steve Cates' Rutherford County Square Dancers, and was a volunteer of Uncle Dave Macon Days Festival since 1984.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Animal Rescue Rutherford County PAWS

Memorial services celebrating her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, 1808 Woodmont Dr., Nashville, TN 37215. Additionally, a Memorial service to celebrate her life will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. Sunday, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, (615) 893-5151.
