One of Donaldsonville's own, Gustave Joseph Guinchard III, remains so vivid in memory as "Joey", a guy who liked "rock & roll, and fast cars". An accurate description, because fast was the pace at which he traveled in the melody of life. Always, delving into different challenges, business as well as pleasure. Who can forget the love in his eyes as he held his beautiful grandchild, at the same time directing those around, the sheer joy of driving his prized possession with throttle wide open, the pride when speaking of his children, and the sentiment when reserving his Grandfather's hand crafted ladder ... He and I respected one another, and worked well together, from our first informal business encounter, sitting on the floor selecting wall & floor covering for the new construction in St. Jude, to the trust he placed in our marketing of his real estate in his home town of Donaldsonville; leaving for the lure of more business opportunity in a larger city ... Like someone said of a mutual business associate, "I bet he's already moving the clouds around ..." Farewell, my friend, whether here or there, I'm sure "all is well".
