Corrine Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 22 to Sep. 24, 2004.
Corrine Johnson, died Sept. 20, 2004. She was born to Bjarne and Alma (Larsen) Blix on Aug. 16, 1938 in Duluth, Minn.. A lifelong Duluth resident and graduate of Central High, Corinne married her high school sweetheart, Allan C. Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1992 after 35 years of marriage. A registered dental assistant, Corinne's career spanned more than 30 years, as an assistant to Dr. Allan Young and later as an orthodontic assistant and office manager to Dr. Thomas Murphy. An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and later Kenwood Lutheran Church, Corinne found great satisfaction serving in many capacities, Sunday school teacher, Chair of Board of Social Ministry, grief support group facilitator and birthright counselor. During retirement Corinne pursued Chaplaincy training at SMDC. A fantastic mom, Corinne was involved in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA while raising her children, Scot Johnson (Shannon) and Debra Johnson, both of Duluth. Granny spent the last 14 years of her life loving her four precious grandchildren, Rachel, Brian, Lee and Sylvie, all her truest pride and joy. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Allan; and two sisters, Eleanor Griewisch of Marietta, Ga., and Elida Zeimis of Burbank, Calif. Corinne is survived by her children; grandchildren; sister, Carol Viertel of Stevens Point, Wis.; brother, Rolf Blix of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews. Corinne and her family were lovingly supported by friends, family, their faith communities, and 'extended family': the staff of Benedictine Health Center and SMDC Hospice. CELEBRATION OF LIFE MEMORIAL:2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 in Kenwood Lutheran Church. Preservice gathering at 1:30 p.m. Memorials preferred to SMDC Hospice. Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 218-624-5200

Your Mom was a dear friend from Jr. High and High School. I was shocked to read that I have lost my dear friend. We did not see each other enough after we were married as life goes we forget to get in touch and time passes. Last time we talked was right after your dad's passing. They were both wonderful people and will be missed in my life always. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My sympathy to the family, I was a friend to both Corrine & Allen & also attended the same church & grew up in the Chester Park area. I know they are both at peace.

Debbie and family, I was sad to hear about your loss. I have such great memories of living across the alley to your parents home. My brothers and I were always welcomed into your home. My teeth look great today because of your mothers great care of me at the orthodontist. My thoughts are with you and your family. Love, Your little Joli (Shamblott)

Deb, Scot and other family and friends, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Corrine. I know and beleive as I'm sure you all do, that she is doing so much better now. She's with your dad and mine and others she loves and she is able to breath again, praise God! I am thinking of all of you and my prayers are with you. I wish I could be there but please know that I am in spirit. May God bless you all and comfort you all through this. I miss and love you all, Wendy
