Vicki Gilbertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2007.
Vicki Lee Gilbertson, 58, of Fond Du Lac passed away July 22, 2007 after an incredibly brave battle with a brain tumor. Vicki, was born Vicki Lee Edwards in Reno, Nev., Feb. 9, 1949 to Jack and Barbara Edwards. She has lived in many different places, but Minnesota is where she called home, living here for the last 23 years of her life. Vicki, a homemaker by trade was best known for sharing with all those that she came in contact with her faith in God and the hope provided to all by Jesus Christ. This became her passion in life molding her even more so into the incredible, caring, loving person that everyone knew. Someone that no matter who you were or where you came from she would be the first to lend a helping hand and do anything in her ability to help someone in need. On Friday, Feb. 13, 1976 Vicki Edwards married Errol Gilbertson Sr., and began what turned out to be a lifelong companionship with their marriage to each other spanning over 30 years! They became what many would say was a perfect example of unconditional true love that grew stronger with everyday they were together. This held course until her true love was taken in an accident just seven short months ago. Even still Vicki found the strength to forge on for her kids and grandkids by continuing to be the strong willed, courageous woman everyone had come to know giving those around her someone to lean on even during this incredibly difficult time. Vicki was a shining example of a loving and caring mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. Never did she turn her back on anyone, always leading by example showing those around her the true meaning of love thy neighbor as thy self. She is preceded in death by her husband, Errol Sr.; mother, Barbara Edwards; and grandson, Elliot Finley. Vicki is survived by her daughter, Gina Finley; son, Errol Gilbertson II; brother, John Edwards; father, Jack Edwards; seven grandchildren, Victoria, Angelica, Carter, Paige, Cayden, Cayleigh, and Preston; sister-in-law, Kathy (Mike) Larsen; several nieces and nephews, and a host of incredibly wonderful friends that came through lending a hand and helping Vicki and her family through this difficult time. Thank you all. MEMORIAL SERVICE:10 a.m. Friday July 27, 2007 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth, 624-5200. There will be a visitation one hour prior to services, reception will immediately follow.
