Dorothy Prough a longtime, respected resident and beloved family member left this life in Plano, Texas and joined her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the age of 73. She was born in Rawlins, Wyoming on January 27, 1943 to Charles Donald and Marjorie Otelia (Pettis) Conner. Dorothy married her sweetheart John F. Prough in Mesquite, Texas on February 14, 1971.
Dorothy was a member of the 1st Baptist Church and dedicated many hours to teaching Sunday school for a variety of age groups. She was extremely active in many avenues throughout her lifetime; she was the past President of the Business and Professional Woman's Club of Durant from 1991-1992, a charter member and First "Queen Mother" of the Red Hats and Purple Halo's from 2005-2009, a volunteer and board member of the Pregnancy Center of Bryan County, and a leader in Celebrate Recovery for awhile. Dorothy received her Master degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, then went on to work for the institution for 13 years.
Mrs. Prough is survived by her husband, John F. Prough of the home; son, Jerrell D. Prough and wife Jeanine of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Cynthia Thomas of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; grandsons, Conner Prough of Durant, Oklahoma; Brandon Thomas of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Johnathan Prough of Durant, Oklahoma; grandaughters, Krystal Gray of Midlothian, Texas, Caroline Prough of Durant, Oklahoma; sisters, Carol M. Cummings and husband Gene of Tyler, Texas and Ellen K. Noak and husband John of Pocatello, Idaho; and brother, Dale D. Conner and wife Yudesa of Chandler, Texas; and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Prough was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marjorie Conner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Grace Prough; grandson, Trevor Prough; sons, Ricky Prough and Kenneth Prough.

Family Hour will be from 7-8 PM Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A church service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church 124 W Evergreen Bro. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Dorothy's Sunday school class.
