William Patrick (Bill) Murphy died peacefully with his family present on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Bill was born in Dublin in 1938 to William and May. He emigrated to Canada in 1973 with his wife and two children. Bill trained as a Chef in France. He worked early on in the Merchant Navy, followed by a career in catering and finally worked in the insurance industry and finished out his career as a financial and investment planner. He proudly graduated from York University with a BA in psychology in 2013. He had a life long passion for reading, rugby, music, sailing and fishing, which he particularly enjoyed with his 5 grandchildren. Over the years he volunteered his time to a number of organizations including rugby clubs in both Ireland and Canada, the catholic church, underprivileged youth at both Covenant House and boys and girls club of Oshawa, and was a volunteer member of the Durham Police Choir. Later in his life he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Cora, his daughter Amanda Jane and her husband Paul, his son Stephen and his wife Dawna Sue, and his 5 grandchildren Connor, Cameron, Aidan, Erik and Ciarán, and his many nieces and nephews including Monica and Carol. RIP Sir Bill!! Our family was crushed and deeply saddened to hear of his passing! Our deepest heartfelt condolences to Cora and all of his family. Bill's wit, wisdom and whimsical contribution to our lives will be treasured, lovingly missed and most deeply, appreciated. His inclination to break out into song, poetry or eloquent quotation of historical characters will be, so missed. May you rest in peace and we will forever.. "Pray, and don't worry". God bless you good man. You may have left this woeful world, but your presence here, will not be forgotten. Ever... "Longfellow" mourns your passing, along with his four younger brothers and parents. Grant peace unto him oh Lord.......
