PHILP, Bryce Richard Of Belleville, passed away peacefully at Quinte Health Care (BGH) on Friday, August 23, 2019, at age 84. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Ashley) for the past 17 years, and of the Late Donna June Stapley, for 43 years. (1958-2001). Dear step-father of Deborah Lynn Sherwood (David) of Broadway, Va., and Ashley Randall (Randy and Lisa) Tuck, of Belleville. Loving grandpa to Justin Potts, Brittany Tuck, and Lynnsea Sherwood. Proud great-grandpa to Paige Potts, of Squamish, BC. Bryce made a lifetime career of marketing the automobile. For 27 years he worked with the Late Walter Elliott at Elliott Motors in Belleville. For many of those years he was Vice President and General Manager of the company. In the early 1970's, he became the proud owner of the Philp Pontiac Buick Dealership in Port Perry, which he operated for 28 years. During all of those years, he was always a very visible member of the communities in which he lived, and he belonged to and supported many community organizations and service clubs, and especially the churches he attended. He was predeceased by his parents, the Late Richard Henry Philp and Maude Marguerite (nee Preston) Philp. He was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Warren Philp, of Stirling, his sister, Gertrude Werry, and his sister-in-law, Muriel (Harry) Jeffs. Bryce is also survived by sisters-in-law Marlene Philp and Barbara Ashley Caterer (Ron), and brothers-in-law Franklin Stapley (Caroline) and Bernard Ashley (Patricia), all of Stirling. Also survived by several nieces and nephews: Bruce Philp (Linda); Steve Philp (Tammy); Kim McInroy (Gary); and Anne Thompson (Allan predeceased), and great-nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Bruce, Courtney, Shawn, Gabe, Kyle, Gerald, Carolyn, Jason, Caleb, and Marcy. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home , Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (877-256-3688). Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Steele Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. A private burial of the Cremated Remains will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, near Port Perry, at a later date. Memorial Contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to Hastings Park Bible Church would be appreciated by the family.
