Max Van Deventer

Max Van Deventer

Max Van Deventer, 69, passed away March 26, 2014 at home with his wife Trish at his side.

Max was born and raised in Visalia, Calif.

He was a masonry and plumbing/irrigation contractor. He owned his own business in Southern California, Templeton, Calif., and Gardnerville, Nev. In 1981 he met Trish in Templeton and they married.

He was very active in his younger years, enjoying horseback riding, semi-pro football, off-road racing and trap shooting. While in Mesquite you could find him playing with and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing video poker or visiting with friends. The most important thing to him was his family. He loved his sons Darin (Rachel) Van Deventer of Paso Robles, Calif., and Shane (Stacy) Deventer of Louisville, Ky., as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Phil (Mic) Van Deventer. We will miss his sense of humor and quick wit. There will be a celebration of life May 17, 2014 at the Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811.

Donations may be made to the Mesquite Cancer Help Society, P.O. Box 1416, Mesquite, Nev., 89024.
