Jesse King Obituary

Jesse "Troy" King Aug 13, 1911 - Feb 2, 2013 Resident of Rodeo Troy was born on Aug. 13, 1911 in New Castle, TX and passed away on Feb. 2, 2013 in Concord. He was preceded in death in 2007 by Lorena King, his wife of 70 years. He was a Mason out of Redding, CA. When he was younger, he drove mail trucks in Silver City, NM, Eureka, CA & Redding, CA. He was a carpenter on both the Shasta Dam and Mare Island, and worked as a building inspector in Pinole, CA for 13 years before retiring in 1973. Troy and Lorena were active in their community, donating 104 hours to Meals on Wheels in 1995. He also built three homes and had a large part in building the First Baptist Church in Rodeo. Jesse was active in the Fiddlers Organization and played both the guitar and harmonica. He also loved to dance and was an avid gardener and taught Sunday school and was a very active participating member of his church. Troy is survived by his daughters Martha Roberts (Bill) and Bernice Schaefer (Les); his grandchildren Jeannie (Christopher) and Mark (Linda); and four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Lorena Rose, Taylor and Troy. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 12 pm on Sat., Feb. 9, 2013 at Chapel of the Mission Bells, San Pablo followed by interment at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, Richmond. I remember going to Troy's house with my wife, Pat, to play music with Troy and Leo English. I will really miss Troy and Lorena.
