May 31, 1946-February 23, 2011
Resident of Oakland
Diane " Dee Dee" Scott was born May 31st 1946 in South Dakota and went home to the Lord February 23, 2011. She came to California as a child and grew up in the bay area attending high school in Oakland. As a young adult she spent a great deal of time with the Port O' Call group sponsored by the Neighborhood Church in Castro Valley where she made many long lasting relationships. After retiring, she dedicated herself fulltime to missionary work. Her extensive travels included Israel, Jordan, Poland, Uzbekistan, The Ukraine and China. It was during these travels that she made even more meaningful connections which gave her great fullfillment. In 2003 she returned to the bay area to be near her family. She began attending Abundant Life Fellowship in Hayward where once again she found people who were like a second family to her. She spent her remaining time with us balancing herself between her church which she loved and helping raise her grandson. She touched so many lives and left many people behind who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her sisters, Linda and Paula, 2 children, David and Kim and a grandson, Max. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12 th, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Abundant Life Fellowship, 670 Sunset Blvd in Hayward

I met Dee Dee during our late teens at the Port O' Call in Oakland. It was a haven of joy for all us young women while finding our place in life. I remember her as a shinning star with a sparkle in her eyes and a leader. She was always one who stood out and cared for so many. She will be missed.

It's been a long time, Dee Dee, but that doesn't diminish the memories of when we first met 47 years ago at the Port O'Call and the discoveries and the joys of doing something meaningful and at the same time having fun and making lifelong friends. You will be missed. And to Dave, David, Jr., and Kimberly, may you find peace in knowing how much she was loved by so many. Diane (Strickler) Sprenger – Shedd, Oregon

Dee Dee, I was saddened to hear of your passing. The world needs people like you. You always inspired me to be a more courageous Christian. Your faith was awesome! I am happy for you, though. You are in the arms of Jesus, in a place far better than this world. I look forward to sharing eternity with you in our REAL home. This world is not our home. We're just a'passin' through. I just finished reading the book, Heaven is for Real. I can just see you there marveling at all the beautiful rainbow colors, listening to the music far better than here, and young again! I love you, Dee Dee.

My husband and I knew Dee Dee from Port O Call ministry at Neighborhood Church. So many wonderful memories. It is good to know that Dee Dee is with her Lord and Savior.

Dee Dee, I was saddened for the world when I heard you had left. Seems like we've been losing some mighty fine people lately. You were such a prayer warrior and such a voice for the Lord. I cherished your friendship and influence in my life. Thank you to you and Little LInda for inviting me to the Port O'Call years ago. I know where you are now and know you are doing better than ever before so I am happy for you. Just finished reading 'Heaven is for Real' and have no doubts you are with Jesus. I look forward to spending eternity with you someday! Love you and will always remember you and your love and courage for Jesus!

I will never forget you, DeeDee. You had such a love and zeal for he things of the Lord. The last time I saw you was at a party at Rolleen's when you returned from China. You gave me a braclet and said each time I wore it, it would remind me of you and to pray for you. See you at the great Port reunion when we all get to heaven I still have the braclet.

Best Friends since 1961
One of my best friends for almost 50 years. You are sitting at the feet of Jesus and I am proving to the world that I am computer skill challenged. The Lord placed you on my heart and I began praying for you and befriending you in 1961 in our sophomore year at Castlemont High School. You became my prayer warrior and I was yours.
Save me a seat next to you under the tree of life, by the springs of living water, then let's go thank Jesus for loving us and accepting us as His, and also for our forever friendship. Love, Linda

Dee Dee's enthusiasm for spreading God's word was such a testimonial to all of us. Going into far away lands and serving the Lord was your great purpose in life. You were truly spreading the Word. I had lost contact with you, but had always kept you in my heart and prayers. You will be truly missed. Love, Jeanette Valdez (Patches)

I remember Dee Dee fondly from Oakland's Neighborhood Church back in the 60's and 70's. Such a sweet smile and truly a good person. Well, we know where you are now!
